Song Lyrics

Unfortunately the title is an apt description of what this post is going to be about. I can't force myself to make something up and I'm not inspired enough to either rant or uplift, so passing on someone else's words will have to do for now I'm afraid.

Heart of Gold by Stephanie Chapman

When the fire burns out and you're left as an ember,
You will always remember you were told,
He will weigh you down, though your body burn to ashes,
He will weigh you down with a heart of gold.

Like a leaf, like a feather, you cannot be tethered
You are taken with the wind and then it sets you down again.
He will build you up, he will overflow your cup,
He will weigh you down with a heart of gold.

When your body is hollow and your skin is just bones,
He will take you from the orphanage and take you to a home.
When you mean nothing, not to me, not to neighbors, friends, or family,
He will weigh you down with a heart of gold.

And it's so heavy finding love,
But you will not blow away with the dust.
When the fire burns out and you're left as an ember,
You will always remember you were told,
He will weigh you down, though you turn to ashes,
He will weigh you down with a heart of gold.

I really enjoy all aspects of this song. Melody, voice, and words. Something to aspire to, I guess. Having a heart that is, not setting myself on fire and burning to ashes.
